Evangelism Stories

"And when they arrived and gathered the church together, they declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles." Acts 14:27 (ESV)

"...they passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, describing in detail the conversion of the Gentiles, and brought great joy to all the brothers." Acts 15:3 (ESV)

  • Turn to Christ Today

She recently had a heartfelt conversation with one of her relatives. She gently reminded her that they were getting older and that many members of their family had already passed away. "One day, it will be our turn," she said. "Tomorrow isn't promised."

She encouraged her relative to forgive someone who had deeply hurt her. Her relative replied, "I have forgiven that person, but even though I've forgiven them, I still need time to get over the hurt."

The woman acknowledged her pain but lovingly responded, "Healing may take time, but we can't put off being right with God. None of us knows if we'll have tomorrow."

That conversation became an opportunity to share the hope of the gospel and the importance of turning to Christ today, while there is still time.

The Bible says, “yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes" (James 4:14) and "Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2).

  • Anytime, Anywhere

One day at work, she was sitting in the office when she overheard her boss and another supervisor talking about religion. They were saying that all religions lead to the same place. As she listened, she felt the Lord prompting her heart. She knew this wasn’t just another conversation—it was an opportunity to speak about Christ.

Instead of jumping into an argument, she simply asked, “Can I ask you something? What do you believe about God? Who is Jesus to you?”

They shared what they believed, and eventually the conversation turned to the afterlife. They said they didn’t believe there was anything after death—that when life is over, that’s simply the end.

She listened carefully, then gently replied, “If I’m wrong, I haven’t really lost anything. But if what the Bible says is true, and you’re wrong, the consequences are eternal.” She wasn’t trying to win a debate; she was speaking because she genuinely cared about them. She loved them enough to tell them the truth.

She then asked, “Would you mind if I shared what I believe?” They said yes.

With a gospel tract similar to the Romans Road in her hands, she began at the beginning. One verse at a time, she explained God’s holiness, mankind’s sin, Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, His resurrection, and the free gift of eternal life that is found only through faith in Jesus Christ.

What started as an ordinary conversation in the workplace became a beautiful reminder that God opens doors for the gospel in the places we least expect. She didn’t know how they would respond, but she left the results in God’s hands. Her responsibility was simply to be faithful—to love enough to speak and trust the Lord to do what only He can do.

This experience reminds us that evangelism doesn’t always happen from a pulpit. Sometimes it begins with a listening ear, a caring question, and the courage to say, “May I share with you the hope I have in Christ?”

“Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.” Colossians 4:5–6 (ESV)

“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? … As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’” Romans 10:14–15 (ESV)
